PBS interviews Shi Yan Ming for Upcoming Documentary

PBS recently filmed an interview with Shifu Shi Yan Ming at the USA Shaolin Temple for their upcoming documentary, "The Black Kung Fu Experience". The special is about the relationship between black culture and Chinese culture through the medium of kungfu. It will highlight pioneers like Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Ron Van Clief, and their relationships with their masters including Bruce Lee and Hong Kong's Leung Ting. Additionally, the blaxploitation film genre and hip hop and their relationship to kung fu will be looked at in depth. 

 

Another portion featuring Shi Yan Ming with RZA will be filmed soon. The show is set to air in the US in Spring of 2012, followed by international release on PBS' partner stations worldwide.
