The Barnes and Nobles bookstore in Santa Monica hosted a book signing and lecture on August 9th 2006. The purpose of the event was to introduce the book Shaolin Workout, which is being sold at all Barnes and Nobles across the country. As part of the lecture, Shifu Shi Yan Ming asked everyone stand up and follow as he demonstrated many of the techniques illustrated in the book.
